Doesn't everyone here have this right on the tip of their tongues.
I know I know that movie.
I keep thinking of "Critters" and Roman Polanski and "The Lady In White." Do those three things have a connection that could lead us to our answer?
That shit works for Agent Dale Cooper, you know?

I'm getting a funky 1970s vibe (or perhaps that's wishful thinking?), that this is something like "Let's Scare Jessica to Death" or "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things."

I'm really hoping it's some De Palma movie I didn't know about!

You're both on the right track. Hint: it's not De Palma, but that is a De Palma regular on the right.

Ahhh! It's that Tobe Hooper movie I never got around to seeing. How is that anyway?

Am I too late? Is it The Funhouse?

Indeed it is. And since Ivan is the first person to recognize the film (assuming you didn't mean Crocodile or something) and Jess got the title, you can both pick movies for me to write about.

And to answer your question, Ivan, it's a very fun "boo!" movie.

Wow...I didn't even know that Hooper had made a flick called Crocodile! (Speaking of crocs, I really enjoyed Rogue and its old school suspense and tension building. A darn good B-movie.) But Funhouse is now on my netflix queue.

Mr. Bemis, I'd be very interested in what you'd have to say about Michael Ritchie's The Island. Its bad reputation might demand that I call it a guilty pleasure, but I've always found the flick highly entertaining. I know it's not on DVD, so if that's a problem, how about Sam Peckinpah's Cross of Iron?

Thanks, and keep up the good work!

Hell and damnations. "poltergeist" was my next association. I was getting so close...

Looked everywhere in the area for The Island - no luck. Cross of Iron it shall be, but I'll make a point of checking out The Island if/when it hits DVD.

Mr. Bemis,
Thanks! I knew I was pushing it with The Island--but I'd still love to hear what you have to say about Cross of Iron.
Interestingly, the folks over at Kindertrauma did a post on The Island around the same time I was pestering you about it. (http://www.kindertrauma.com/?p=865)
Thanks,
