- David Bowie will play Nikola Tesla in a film directed by Christopher Nolan. The film will also feature Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman as dueling magicians. Life is good.
- This trailer made the audience I saw it with laugh. I can't say they were wrong.

- The Cinemark in South Hadley, which has fast become one of my favorite cinemas, is showing Gremlins on Friday at midnight. Anyone who'd like to come is welcome. Doug, you can be sure I'll be thinking of you.
- The Top 10 Directors lists have been great. I was thinking today: what filmmaker blew his/her chances to make your top 10 more spectacularly than any other? I was thinking of Francis Coppola - every film he made in the 70's is an inarguable classic, then he gradually slid from interesting to uneven to bad to inactive. Who let you down?
- Another question, for personal reference: what is the most you would pay for a 35mm trailer of A Nightmare on Elm Street 2?

I'm not too familiar with nearly as many films as most of those who read/comment here, but if I had to pick one I'd have to say M.Night Shyamalan. I first saw Unbreakable and was wowed, but as I came to know more of his work, it just seemed to be trying too hard to make twists for the audience, ultimately making us yawn rather than jump out of our seats. Judging by the reaction to the trailer, others are thinking similarlly.
For the 35mm trailer. $500 if I was certain I could spare it.
And as for Gremlins; what a great way to get into the Chirstmas Spirit. I'm most certainly jealous, but glad to know I'll be remembered. Have some good laughs for me.
Francis Coppola is probably my first choice for directors that failed to make the cut. Honestly the other directors that didn't make the list (Sam Raimi, Sam Peckinpah, John Carpenter) didn't make the list because it was limited to 10 - a list of top 15 would include all the directors I'd call my favorites.
Also, I'd pay no more than $50 for a trailer.
Incidentally, the auction closed at nearly forty dollars; normally that'd be a steal, but with the holidays around the corner, I had to reluctantly pass.
